
We’re excited to make it official – our monthly randori sessions are now a permanent part of the Northampton Judo Academy timetable.
Randori has always been one of the most important parts of judo, and now it has a fixed place in our calendar.
This session is open to our members and visiting judokas, giving everyone access to a wider range of training partners and styles.
Randori is live judo practice where techniques come out of drills and into real movement.
Instead of stopping after every throw or grip, both players keep moving, adapting, attacking, defending, and problem-solving in real time. It’s controlled, respectful, and safe – but it’s also unpredictable, which is exactly what makes it valuable.
We’ve seen huge value in these sessions.
By opening randori to visiting clubs and outside players, we bring variety into the room. Different styles, different grips, different rhythms that challenges everyone.
